“Taipei Fashion Week SS24: A Youthful Celebration of Streetwear and Culture”
Taipei, Taiwan, Oct 2023 - Taipei Fashion Week SS24, kicked off its opening show on October 11, 2023, with the theme of “Youth Culture”. The event showcased the latest trends and innovations from Taiwan’s streetwear, as well as the cultural diversity and creativity of the young generation.
Taipei Fashion Week has always emphasized the spirit of cross-border collaboration between fashion and culture, from past seasons featuring arts, indigenous culture, and traditional crafts, to the current season highlighting youth culture. As the global fashion industry recognizes the unique vision and influence of young people on popular culture, youth culture reflects the pursuit of individuality and cultural attitude in fashion choices.
Participating brands included (A)crypsis®, 67ARROW, ANOWHEREMAN, JUST IN XX, PLATEAU STUDIO, and oqLiq, which used their own perspectives to interpret the strong desire and critical ability of the youth generation for uniqueness and blended popular elements with fashion concepts to create a wonderful opening for this season.
(A)crypsis® and 67ARROW discarded the usual runway format and instead opted for a dance battle against each other with dancers wearing their own designs. JUST IN XX has taken an experiment approach to fashion design by using AI-generated characters to set the storyline for their presentation. PLATEAU STUDIO is known to use refreshing three-dimensional cuts and prints on streetwear, collaborated with graffiti artist- Reach, to demonstrate the street art creations on-site. While oqLiq used comics as inspiration, collaborated with a 3D animation artist and a cartoonist to create a smart transformation of comic elements into streetwear. ANOWHEREMAN combines the spirit of rock music with contemporary elements. It uses innovative materials and shapes to create a distinctive and retro youth style.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Taipei Fashion Week SS24 opening show successfully highlighted the importance of youth culture in the fashion industry and showcased the diversity and freedom of contemporary fashion. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sue Wang, said that the global culture has entered a trend of more segmentation and diversification. This event has brought together various aspects of youth culture such as AI, music, and local street style, making it an important new momentum for the fashion industry market.

Taipei Fashion Week SS24, which opened on October 11, 2023, with the theme of “Youth Culture”, concluded with a grand closing show featuring live music performances held at the Taipei Dome on October 22. The Taipei City Government collaborated with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Vogue Taiwan to organize this event. Mayor of Taipei, Wayne Chiang, showed his support for Taiwanese designers by wearing suits designed by BOB Jian, to fully demonstrated the creative heights of Taiwan’s fashion industry.
Drawing inspiration from Kafka’s classic masterpiece Metamorphosis, ALLENKO3 introduces the SS 24 collection with the theme of “ METAMORPHOSIS”. The collection features a unique collaboration between the emerging Hakka rapper Yappy and string musicians, creating a dark and refreshing contrast for the looks.
Story Wear’s SS24 collections reflect the brand’s core values: Art, Fashion, Craftsmanship, and Sustainability. The brand employs a diverse team of independent street tailors, second-time job seekers, and senior tailors who use recycled fabrics and clothing to create up-cycled designs. Through this, Story Wear aims to reshape the new Taiwanese Spirit.
TUNGSUNGCHIEN, have been featured in many international magazines, the designer’s work is inspired by the human body and its flaws, from the cellular level to the visible signs of aging. He uses various materials and techniques to create garments that reflect the eccentricity and imperfection of human life.
PCES is a fashion brand that integrates different cultural and professional backgrounds to create unique aesthetics. The design draws inspiration from nature, culture, and technology, and features special silhouette tailoring and digital printing using innovative ways to reduce environmental impact. On the runway, PCES interspersed with multicultural food stalls, making it feel like a lively carnival that echoed the dynamic lifestyle and diverse society.
This season, BOB Jian’s concept is “Wondering”, which blends exquisite craftsmanship with digital printing and incorporates hand-made technology to showcases the beauty rhythm that is characteristic of BOB Jian’s flamboyant personality.
The closing event of Taipei Fashion Week was a splendid display of musical and visual artistry, which embodied the youthful spirit and innovation that characterized this fashion week, and also demonstrated Taipei’s openness and support for the fashion industry and its diverse expressions.
