I entered this beauty pageant to challenge traditional beauty standards: Sanduni Fernando
1. What inspired you to enter this beauty pageant?
I entered this beauty pageant to challenge traditional beauty standards and show that true beauty is about confidence, authenticity, and making a positive impact. It’s a platform to inspire others, embrace individuality, and use my voice for causes that matter.
2. How does competing in this pageant align with your personal and professional goals?
Competing in this pageant aligns with my goals by allowing me to build confidence, amplify my voice, and use the platform to advocate for causes I’m passionate about, all while growing both personally and professionally.
3. What unique qualities do you bring to the pageant that would make you a strong representative?
I bring authenticity, a strong sense of purpose, and a passion for empowering others. My commitment to making a positive impact and embracing individuality makes me a strong representative who can inspire and connect with people.
4. How do you believe participating in this pageant will help you grow personally and professionally?
Participating in this pageant will help me grow by challenging me to step out of my comfort zone, develop leadership skills, and expand my network, all while allowing me to use my voice to make a meaningful impact.
5. What is your chosen platform and why is it important to you?
My chosen platform is mental health awareness. It's important to me because I've seen firsthand how mental health struggles can affect individuals and communities. By advocating for better understanding and resources, I hope to break the stigma and encourage open conversations, helping others feel seen and supported.
6. How will you use your influence as a potential titleholder to inspire and empower others?
As a potential titleholder, I would use my influence to create a space where others feel empowered to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their passions fearlessly. By sharing my own journey and advocating for causes like mental health and self-acceptance, I hope to inspire confidence and remind people that their voices and stories matter.
7 .Describe a challenging situation you faced in your modelingi career and how you overcame it?
One of the most challenging situations I faced in my modeling career was dealing with body image pressures and unrealistic standards. At first, it affected my confidence, but I overcame it by focusing on self-love and redefining what beauty meant to me. I surrounded myself with supportive mentors, embraced my individuality, and learned to prioritize mental health. This journey not only made me stronger but also helped me advocate for more diverse and authentic representation in the industry.
8. How do you handle criticism or negative feedback, both within and outside of the modeling world?
I see criticism as an opportunity for growth rather than something personal. In both modeling and life, I focus on the constructive aspects of feedback and use it to improve. Outside of the industry, I remind myself that negative feedback often reflects someone else's perspective, not my worth. I stay grounded in my values and surround myself with people who uplift and support my growth, which helps me turn criticism into motivation.
