What inspired you to become a fashion designer, and who influenced your style the most?
My biggest role model is the immortal Coco Chanel. I don't know what influenced me, because since childhood I had a dream of becoming a fashion designer. So I just went to fulfill my dream. I was from an ordinary socialist family, I grew up in socialism, where the basis of clothing was uniformity. And that's what I wanted to change, so that the streets would be full of people dressed differently and not just in uniform.
How do you balance creativity with commercial trends in the fashion industry?
This is the hardest part, since we are being crushed by the Asian market and I don't have an answer for this. I still believe that there are women who know that you have to pay for quality and who
know how to appreciate quality. In my opinion, our European fashion is among the most beautiful in the world and in terms of quality, the most luxurious. Let's just say that a woman will feel different in a dress made of silk than in a dress made of polyester.

Which collection or design are you most proud of, and why?
I am always most proud of my latest collection. Now, for example, it is my latest collection, which I called "Floral Fantasias". I find it very romantic and very feminine. I combined seemingly disparate materials here, such as velvet and organza. In fact, I was most proud of my first collection, which I put together in 2012. It was a collection of winter coats. Although critics described it as coats for the Russian aristocracy, I was proud of it.
What challenges have you faced in the fashion industry, and how did you overcome them?
My challenges were that a person from small Slovakia could also assert himself on the world's catwalks. After presenting my first collection at Bratislava Fashion Days, I presented my collection in Cannes, then Rome, Paris, Milan, London, New York. I did not let myself be discouraged by dissuasion that it was not possible or that I could not succeed. I always sent my portfolio to the organizers and waited for them to choose me. And they chose me.
What advice would you give to young people who want to build a career in fashion design?
I do not think that I can give anyone advice, because I myself sometimes need it. But if I were in their shoes now, I would never give up on my dreams. I would not stick to fashion trends and would I always forge my own path. I would never limit my imagination and creativity just to be fashionable. Not everything that is fashionable is also beautiful and it is not suitable for everyone. Fashion is subjective feeling and let everyone be who they want to be.
