Mister Tourism World Sri Lanka 2024
I see criticism as a chance to grow: Omar Bepari
What inspired you to enter this beauty pageant?
I have always been passionate about fashion, and I see Mister Tourism World as an extraordinary opportunity to promote important values such as sustainable tourism, biodiversity, and cultural understanding. It is a great honor for me to represent my home country, Sri Lanka, a dream I have cherished since my first pageant in 2019.
Thanks to Uddima De Silva and the Mister Sri Lanka Europe for International competition, I earned the titles of Mr. Tourism World Sri Lanka 2024 and Mr. Sri Lanka Europe 2024, which will soon allow me to compete in the prestigious Mister Tourism World pageant. I want to use this incredible platform to inspire others and prove that with dedication and determination, dreams can come true. If you truly believe, anything can become reality.
What are the values of this pageant that resonate most with you?
The values of Mister Tourism World that resonate with me the most are sustainability, the promotion of responsible tourism, and cultural inclusivity. I believe that, now more than ever, it's essential to respect the environment and promote forms of tourism that do not harm natural resources but instead enhance and preserve local cultures. Additionally, I strongly identify with the idea of sharing and celebrating cultural diversity, as it can enrich both our personal and collective experiences. Being from Sri Lanka, a country full of traditions and natural beauty, I firmly believe that fashion and tourism can be powerful tools to spread a message of respect and mutual understanding. For me, participating in Mister Tourism World is not just a competition but a true opportunity to actively contribute to these important issues that are vital for the future of our planet.
How do you believe participating in this pageant will help you grow personally and professionally?
Participating in this pageant is a unique opportunity for both personal and professional growth. It will challenge me to step out of my comfort zone, improve my skills, and boost my self-esteem. Professionally, I will connect with people from all over the world, with different cultures, religions, and traditions, providing me with the chance to learn something new and different from my own reality. It will also offer me visibility on an international stage, allowing me to evolve as a model and ambassador for values such as sustainability and cultural unity. On a personal level, it will be an opportunity to grow, inspire others, and show that with determination and passion, any goal can become a reality.
How do you handle criticism or negative feedback, both within and outside of the modeling world
I see criticism as a chance to grow. When I get negative feedback, I try to listen carefully and figure out what's useful. Constructive criticism helps me improve, while I try not to take anything personal if it doesn’t add value. I focus on staying confident and view feedback as a way to keep getting better, both in my career and as a person.
What is the most important lesson you've learned in your modeling journey so far?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that results, even if not perfect, can be the start of something bigger. In 2019, at my first pageant, I came second. At first, I was a bit disappointed, but that result made me believe in myself more and work harder. I learned that success isn’t just about winning; it’s about consistency, passion, and resilience. That second place helped me grow and kept my passion alive. Now, six years later, I’m here in an international competition, living my dream of representing Sri Lanka. Looking back, I’m proud of my journey and how every experience, good or bad, has made me stronger and more determined.
What are your long-term goals in the fashion industry?
My first goal, representing Sri Lanka at Mister Tourism World, has already been achieved. Now, I want to give my best to achieve the best possible result. In the long term, I aim to become a leading figure in Sri Lanka's fashion industry, associating my name with the field and becoming an icon that inspires the next generations.
How do you believe this pageant will help you achieve your modeling goals?
Participating in this pageant will give me the opportunity to get recognized internationally and grow as a model. It will be a chance to improve my skills, face new challenges, and meet industry professionals from around the world. I hope this experience helps me build a strong personal brand, get noticed in the fashion world, and use the visibility I gain to support causes that are important to me. In this way, I believe the pageant can really open doors for me to take the next big step in my career.
