Hello, my name is Isabelle. I’m Ambassador of Peace & Beauty ‘24. Thank you for having me in your interview. I hope it will help to our readers and will be useful. I’ll try to be open and clear with you as much as I can.
1. What do you do for a living?
I’m a professional model. Since 16 y.o I work as a model first from my small town in Russia and after all around the world. Also I’m a beauty queen. I participate in beauty contests and represent my county in international level. Now I’m trying myself in singing as well . I have a song “Anomalia”. Hope that in the future I will be able to become a successful musician.
2. How would you describe what you do?
Modeling is a field of activity in which the appearance of a model is used to promote or sell goods and services. As we all know, these are: fashion shows, photo shoots, advertising campaigns, etc. And in beauty contest I promote myself and my ideas competing with girls from other countries for the crown and title.
3. What does your work entail?
The profession of a model is to take part in advertising shoots, can be the face of collections, bands, projects. Works with photographers, make-up artists, designers in the beauty industry.
4. What's a typical work week like?
My typical week consists of castings, filming, presentations and flights. I often travel and sign contracts. But I also make time for myself to do yoga and music.
5. How did you get started?
At the age of 16, I participated in my first beauty contest in my city. I was noticed there and invited to work for a magazine as a model. At the age of 18, I moved to Moscow to study and work there. A couple of years later, I signed a contract with an international modeling agency and began working as a model all over the world.
6. What do you like about what you do?
I like that I travel and live in different countries. It helps me to broaden my horizons and get acquainted with the culture of different countries. I also have the opportunity to meet people from the world of fashion and bohemia. I like to be useful in my field and bring beauty through photo shoots and beauty contests.
7. What do you dislike?
Unfortunately, with my pace of life, it is difficult for me to build relationships. I sometimes miss important events related to family. And my friends miss me. I try to maintain a balance and spend enough time with my parents, but sometimes it is difficult to achieve everything.
8. How do you make money or how are you compensated?
In modeling, we sign a contract with a modeling agency, which pays us money for our work.
9. What skills are needed to do this?
In my profession you need to be suitable for the parameters of a model. Also you need to be sociable and friendly. Energetic and self-confident. And you need to be able to pose and work in front of the camera.
10. what is most challenging about what you do?
In my job a shoot can last 4 hours or 16 hours. And all this time you have to be fresh and work hard. Sometimes shoots are every day and you have little time to sleep. So need to be able to react quickly and adapt to the circumstances.
11. What is most rewarding?
I like that I can realize my talent. I love the stage, the catwalk and working in front of the camera. Now more and more often, aspiring models ask me for advice on how to become a model. I think that in the future I will be a coach and pass on my knowledge and skills to the younger generation.
12.What advice would you offer someone considering this career?
To achieve what you want, you need to believe in yourself very much. You need to be confident in yourself and not be afraid of anything. Listen to your heart and go towards your goal no matter what. And of course, work on yourself and your skills.
13. How much time off do you get?
It all depends on the contract. Most often, it could be like 2 days free in a week.
But if it's a fashion week or a beauty contest, then there's no free time.
In general I take 2-3 months off in a year.
14. What else would you like people to know about your career?
People think that modeling is an easy profession, but it is not. You need to be very resilient and stress-resistant. I believe that beauty is a talent, and any talent needs to be developed otherwise it will fade away. There is a soul behind any appearance, and I want people to look inside more often and work on themselves.
15. What is a common misconception people have about what you do?
There are various rumors about models and people do not take them seriously. While modeling, like any other profession, requires effort and hard work. It is a misconception that everything comes easy to models. It is a competitive environment and psychological pressure that not everyone can withstand. Most of the models are educated and responsible. For example, I am a graduate of the law university; I have no bad habits and I regularly exercise. So in my circle there are models with the same lifestyle and I’m thankful for this.
