Renowned Malaysian Designer Edric Ong was recenty invited to show his
Fashion Collection at the ‘Oimo’ Festival held in Karakol historic City,
Kyrgyzstan. His collection so impressed international photographer Ryaskov
Ivan who arranged a special photoshoot at the mountains with horses
amongst the pristine forest and the Yurt tent of the nomads.

The Edric Ong Collection for Oimo Festival in Kyrgyzstan in honour of Dinara
Chochunbaeva features hand painted silk kimono haori jackets by the
designer himself with motifs of ‘Brookiana’ butterflies and pitcher plants.
These were combined with natural dye, hand-woven silks and cottons. All are
one-of-a-kind pieces.

The skirts and pants were made of natural dyed handwoven ‘pua kujbu’ ikat
textiles by Iban weavers in Sarawak Malaysian Borneo. The unique palm leaf
‘sabit ukong’ rain-cover and the rattan ‘topi tunjang’ hats are also a signature
style of Edric Ong

The EO brand by Edric Ong is in the forefront of Eco-Fashion and Slow
Fashion, consciously working with communities of weavers and crafts artists
to create and market 'hand-made' designs. Based out of Kuching, Sarawak,
Malaysian Borneo, the unique fashion of Edric Ong combines a touch of the
ethnic and oriental with the contemporary; innovative styles with creative use
of hand-woven silks and cottons.

Edric Ong was named the “Malaysian Designer of The Year 2009” at the
Mercedes-Benz/Stylo Fashion Awards in Kuala Lumpur and “Global
Influencer” in 2016. He has shown at London Fashion Week in 2022, 2023 and
2024. He remains in the forefront of Slow Fashion and Eco-Fashion in the
Global Scene.
