Moscow Welcomes India’s Designers to Shape Global Fashion Trends
New Delhi, 3 October, 2024 - From October 3rd to 5th, Moscow welcomes international delegations from around the globe for the BRICS+ Fashion Summit. This global Summit marks a significant shift in the fashion landscape, emphasizing the growing influence of emerging nations and paving the way for mutually beneficial trade agreements and stronger partnerships within the textile industry.
The BRICS+ Fashion Summit brings together industry leaders from over 100 countries. India's participation as the world's second-largest textile manufacturer is highly significant. Russia, a key trading partner for India and the second-largest exporter, provides a perfect platform for strengthening bilateral ties, fostering cultural exchange, and collaborating on joint educational initiatives in fashion.
“The BRICS+ Fashion Summit provides a unique opportunity to highlight the rich heritage and contemporary potential of fashion industries in emerging countries. By bringing together key stakeholders, it accelerates discussions on sustainable practices, new technologies, and investment opportunities. This enhances the global visibility of local designers and craftspeople, ensuring their inclusion in international markets. Furthermore, the summit allows for collaboration on educational and training initiatives that help build skilled talent pools across these countries," shares Sunil Sethi, Chairman of The Fashion Design Council of India.
The summit's educational program features insightful sessions with leading experts on brand promotion, innovative textiles, and sustainable fashion. Among the speakers are Dr Deepti Gupta from IIT Delhi, who will discuss functional clothing and eco-friendly fabrics, and Raja Pratap K, Coordinator at Textile Gallery at National Craft Museum & Hastkala Academy, who will delve into traditional textile manufacturing techniques and their modern relevance.
Cultural exchange is at the heart of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, https://fashionsummit.org/en as evidenced by the exhibition ‘Heritage’, held as part of the Summit. This showcase will feature the work of talented designers, reflecting the traditions and achievements of their unique fashion cultures.
Moscow Fashion Week, taking place concurrently with the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, promises even more spectacular collections. Moscow will transform into a true fashion hub this October, hosting a series of pivotal events, and injecting new energy into the global fashion industry.
